Use page templates for repeated pages

Templates are a great way to save time and get rid of redundant actions. If you have pages of notes that are posted daily or weekly with the same format each time, you can use templates to set up identical pages.

Creating your own templates

Create a page with the format that you'd like to use for multiple pages. Then simply tag the page by clicking on "Add Tags" on the right hand side of the page. Type in "template" and click ok. That's it! Now that page will appear in your list of templates that you can use for the next page you create.

Note: The "t" in "template" must be lower-cased!

Here's a screen shot of where to type in "template":

Using your template to Create a Page

Now that you've created a template, here's how to use that template to create another page. (Keep in mind that PBworks also provides additional templates automatically on your workspace!)

  1. Create a new page by clicking on "Create a page" in the top right-hand corner of your workspace.
  2. Name your page and then choose the "Use a template" option under Page Content. (If you do not see the Page Content section, click on the blue link titled "more options" bellow your page name.)
  3. A drop down box will appear with possible templates you can choose from. Select the appropriate template for the page you're creating.
  4. Click on "Create Page"

Your page should now appear with the appropriate template.

Can I delete a template?

If you're finished using a personalized template and will not need it in the future, you can delete it from your list of templates.

  1. Go to the original page that you tagged as "template."
  2. Click on "Edit Tags" located to the right of the page.
  3. Delete the word "template" and click ok.

Your page will now be removed from your templates. Unfortunately, you will not be able to remove PBworks-created templates.
