Applications for all staff positions must be submitted online via the Boston College applicant site. You will need to register in order to create a new application profile if you have never applied for a position at Boston College or are not a current employee. If you have previously applied for a position, you should login to your existing profile. Boston College employees should use their Agora username and password.

Searches for professional librarian and exempt staff positions are typically managed by a search committee, which is responsible for reviewing all applications, selecting candidates for interviews in consultation with library administrators, conducting initial telephone/Skype interviews, and coordinating in-person interviews with finalists. Communications with candidates during this process are managed by the chair of the search committee and the University Libraries’ Manager of Business and Administrative Services. References are normally contacted only for finalists who may be offered employment with their advance permission.
Searches for non-exempt staff positions are generally managed by a smaller committee and follow a more abbreviated process, which may nor may not include a telephone/Skype interview in advance of an in-person interview.
Candidates may be contacted for a video or telephone conference call with members of the search committee. Calls are scheduled for 20-30 minutes and include a series of questions prepared by the search committee and an opportunity for candidates to ask questions.
In-person interviews for professional librarian and exempt positions are normally conducted during the course of a day and include meetings with the search committee, staff from the relevant department, the university librarian, associate university librarians, and other library managers. An interview day typically includes lunch and, where appropriate, a candidate presentation. Candidate presentations are video recorded for the benefit of staff who cannot attend.
In-person interviews for non-exempt staff positions typically include meetings with search committee and relevant department staff and range from two to three hours.
Candidates for all positions who are invited for campus interviews meet with a representative from Human Resources, who reviews Boston College’s competitive benefits programs, compensation, and hiring practices.
